The UK-based Iridium® satellite tracking and communication specialist Rock Seven has appointed MVS Telecom as its Russian distributor. The appointment is a result of Iridium receiving a licence to operate its satellite services for Russian users following completion of a new Iridium ground station in the country. MVS Telecom will launch Rock Seven’s RockSTAR and RockFLEET products through its nationwide dealer network, providing access to new users on land, air and at sea.

We would like to offer our congratulations to NESLAB who have won the best photo competition in GSBC 2016. They are a college student working group that designs, builds, and launches high altitude balloon platforms to develop near space activities such as earth and space observation within the framework of the UPC Space Program. They use our RockBLOCK product to provide telemetry from their balloons in order to check their health, and locate the units when they come back to Earth.

Iceberg Monitoring

The Laboratory for Cryospheric Research is dedicated to the monitoring and understanding of the frozen earth including glaciers, ice caps, ice shelves, snow and sea ice. The facility was opened in September 2007 with funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation, Ontario Research Fund and University of Ottawa. Laboratory members are undertaking research across northern Canada, including monitoring glacier changes in Kluane National Park, examining ice shelf and sea ice interactions along northern Ellesmere Island, and measuring glacier and ice cap dynamics across the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. The Laboratory for Cryospheric Research is based in the Department of Geography at the University of Ottawa, and directed by Dr. Luke Copland.
