Over the last week one of our Directors, Nick Farrell, has been onsite in New Zealand with Tracplus. As part of the trip, Nick and some of the Tracplus team made a visit to HeliOtago - one of their first RockAIR customers. HeliOtago helped with the early testing of the RockAIR unit.
"It was so good to meet the aviation team at HeliOtago, listening to how they use the RockAIR units in the field, and finding out how much of a difference it makes to their daily work. They have some excellent ideas for future development too".
As part of the trip, the team was taken on a helicopter ride around the South Island at sunset, seeing some truly beautiful scenery and even spotting a breaching Southern Right Whale.
The RockAIR has proven to be an extremely popular product - as a carry on device, it is portable, can be moved between craft easily, and has both Iridium satellite and cellular. Having dual mode communication ability it helps operators like HeliOtago control their costs by using GSM where in range, whilst still giving the truly global coverage which only Iridium can provide.
